Automations

Automation safeguards and consent

What stops automations from messaging people they shouldn't: pausing when you're mid-conversation, opt-outs, unsubscribes, blocked contacts and imports.

Safeguards on each automation

Open Safeguards on the left of the builder. New automations start with them on.

  • Pause on manual conversation: holds texts and emails to a customer who messaged you recently, so an automation doesn't talk over you. Booking and payment notices, and messages to your team, still go. Min hours between messages sets how recent "recently" is (24 hours unless you change it).
  • Prevent overlapping automations: if this automation is already waiting to continue for the same record, it doesn't start a second time.

Opt-outs and unsubscribes

  • When someone texts STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT), automations never text them again. If they text START, they can get texts again.
  • Marketing emails from automations include an Unsubscribe link and your business address. Someone who unsubscribes gets no more marketing emails or texts.
  • The automation's Category decides what counts as marketing. Post-Job, Warranty and Operational emails are service messages: they go to everyone and have no unsubscribe link. Every other category is marketing.

Other things that stop messages

  • Request Review skips anyone asked for a review in the last 7 days.
  • The same event can't start the same automation twice within a few seconds.
  • You can't activate two automations on the same trigger that create the same record. You'll see Duplicate automation blocked.
  • With Enable SMS Messaging off in Settings, text steps don't send.
  • Blocking a contact stops their texts, calls, forms and emails from starting automations, and cancels any automation already running for them.
  • Imported leads, customers and invoices never start automations, and scheduled automations skip them. Anything that happens to them later in Wrapstart works as normal.
Good to know

Automations have no quiet hours: a step runs when its delay ends. To keep texts in daytime, use a date trigger with a time of day, or a delay in days from a daytime event. The AI engagement switch on a profile stops the AI agents, not ordinary automation texts and emails.
